RESUMEN: En la actualidad, el manejo de las empresas se ha vuelto una tarea complejadebido a los rápidos cambios que surgen en el medio. Los sistemas deinformación son una herramienta que ayudan a las empresas afrontar estoscambios; aumentan la velocidad del intercambio de información, permitenoptimizar y estandarizar los procesos y ayudan a mejorar la atención al cliente.Actuar Famiempresas es una organización que se vio en la necesidad deimplementar un software en el área de confecciones para mejorar y estandarizar elproceso del manejo de inventario de materia prima. Dicha necesidad surgió de lasfalencias que se detectaron en el manejo de dicho inventario: grandesdesperdicios de insumos, falta de un responsable, desconocimiento del materialcon el cual se contaba y poca organización en general en la disposición de dichosinsumos.Con el fin de corregir estos problemas, Actuar Famiempresas decidió crear unabase de datos utilizando el lenguaje de programación Oracle que fue creado por elestudiante de la Escuela de Ingeniería de Antioquia, Juan David Schemel Gómez,con ayuda del departamento de sistemas de Actuar para su trabajo de grado delsegundo semestre de 2002. Dicho programa utiliza una fórmula que relaciona lostiempos Sam (tiempo estándar para la elaboración de una prenda), la eficienciadel grupo a capacitar, las horas de trabajo y el número de estudiantes paracalcular, de acuerdo a la prenda que se fuera a realizar, la cantidad de materiaprima que se debía entregar a los instructores y además, calculaba el número deprendas terminadas que debía entregar el grupo al final de la capacitación. Estesoftware, no pudo ser implementado en el mismo año de su creación (2002) por loque Actuar se vio en la necesidad de asignar dicha implementación a otrosestudiantes que realizaran su trabajo de grado con práctica social en estainstitución. El presente proyecto contiene los resultados de la implementación de dichosoftware de control de inventarios. Para esto se realizó un análisis tanto de labodega como del programa para ver si este último respondía a las necesidades demanejo de inventario de materia prima para el área de confecciones. Luego deeste análisis, se realizaron unas recomendaciones para hacerle algunasmodificaciones al programa, entre estas recomendaciones se encuentra el incluirun procedimiento para el manejo del inventario en sus unidades iniciales y finales.Se crearon unos códigos para identificar la materia prima existente y los productosa realizar en los cursos de capacitación. Finalmente, se elaboraron unos manualesde procedimiento, que explican los pasos para codificar la materia prima, losproductos y para detallar el manejo del programa en cuanto al ingreso deinformación y elaboración de pedidos.Luego de establecer las conclusiones del presente proyecto, se le recomienda a lainstitución Modificar el programa de manejo de inventario de materia prima para que estecalcule las unidades restantes del inventario después de cada pedido, serecomienda también una adecuación del espacio de almacenamiento de materiaprima de tal manera que su manipulación sea más sencilla. Es importanteademás, designar un solo responsable para el manejo de la bodega de materiaprima que incluye la entrega de los materiales a los instructores. Finalmente, se lerecomienda a la institución dejar abierto el programa a futuras modificaciones demanera tal que en un futuro, si se decide sacar una línea propia en confecciones,este software pueda manejar igualmente el inventario en proceso y el inventario enproducto terminado.

ABSTRACT: In today’s modern world, the management of organizations is a task that isbecoming more complex every day due to the rapid changes that occur around usconstantly. Information systems are a very important tool that help enterprisesconfront these changes successfully; they help in the rapid interchange ofinformation, they optimize and standardize different processes within theorganizations and they help to improve relationships with clients. ActuarFamiempresas is an organization that saw itself in the need to implement asoftware in the area of confections to improve and standardize the process ofmanaging the raw material inventory. The need arose from the lack of controlsdetected in the management of this inventory: large waste of raw material, lack ofknowledge of the quantity of materials in the inventory and the fact that there didnot exist one person who could be held responsible for the management of thematerials.With the purpose of solving these problems, Actuar Famiempresas decided tocreate a database using Oracle. This database was created by Juan DavidSchemel Gómez, a student from the School of Engineering of Antioquia, with thehelp of the computer department of the institution for his social project done in thesecond semester of 2002. The program uses a formula that relates the sam times(standard time for the manufacturing of a garment), the total working time, thenumber of students in the course and the efficiency that those students will workwith to calculate the quantity of materials that should be given to the instructorsand the number of finished garments that the group should be able to hand in afterthe course is finished. This software could not be implemented in the same year ofits creation (2002), which is the reason why Actuar saw the need to assign theimplementation to other students who developed their social projects in the institution. The present project contains the results of the implementation of the softwaredesigned to control the inventory of raw material. To carry this out, an analysis ofthe warehouse and the program was developed to determine if the latterresponded to the needs detected in the management of the inventory. Afterwards,a certain number of recommendations were established so that certain aspects ofthe program could be modified. Among these recommendations was the inclusionof a procedure that could determine the initial and final number of units for eachraw material. Reference numbers were created for the existing materials and alsofor the products to be done during the training courses. Finally, procedure manualswere designed to explain the steps to assign reference numbers to the materials,the products and to detail the instructions to manage the software.After establishing the conclusions for the present project, certain recommendationswere made to the institution: to modify the program in such a way that it includes aprocedure that will calculate the final units for each raw material after a requisitionof materials is done, to improve the storage space so that the manipulation of thematerials will be made easier, to assign only one person responsible for themanagement of the warehouse and for the delivery of the materials to theinstructors and finally, to leave the software open to future modifications so thatlater on, if the institution decides to launch a their own line of clothing, the programcan be arranged to manage the inventory in process and the inventory of finished product.
