RESUMEN: El Centro de Atención Ocupacional Jaime Cano Álvarez, hace parte de la unidad de habilitación de El Comité de Rehabilitación de Antioquia. En este Centro de Atención, se llevan a cabo unos talleres de manualidades donde diferentes productos son elaborados por adolescentes con discapacidad, como parte de su proceso de habilitación. Estos productos son vendidos y sus utilidades son repartidas entre los adolescentes participantes. En la actualidad los talleres del Centro de Atención Ocupacional no cuentan con un desarrollo empresarial óptimo, que permita dar una respuesta oportuna al cliente. Adicionalmente requiere administrar mejor sus recursos con el propósito de mejorar su gestión comercial. Se realizó por medio de la Práctica de Trabajo Social una asesoría administrativa y productiva al Centro de Atención Ocupacional Jaime Cano Álvarez. La asesoría tuvo como objetivo mejorar el funcionamiento de los talleres del Centro, contribuyendo a mejorar la calidad de vida de muchos adolescentes cuya discapacidad mas que una barrera, es una motivación a vivir.

ABSTRACT: The Center for Occupational Attention “Jaime Cano Álvarez” is a part of the “Regional Committee of Rehabilitation of Antioquia”. In this particular center for rehabilitation, different types of workshops take place where several kinds of art, craft and handicrafts are made by children of different ages. These children are special, they are disabled and these workshops are part of their rehabilitation process. The products created by this workshop program are sold, and generated revenues are afterward divided among the participating children. At the moment, the workshops of this particular rehabilitation program do not have, do not count with a more advantageous administrative development that allows the children and workshop to give an adequate response to the client. Additionally a better administration of the key resources is needed in order to improve the commercial expansion and growth of the workshops. By means of the Social Work Practice an administrative and productive assessment of the workshops and rehabilitation program was done for the Center for Occupational Attention “Jaime Cano Álvarez”. The objective of this assessment was to improve the functioning of the center by contributing to the better quality of life of many of these children, for whom disability is more than just a barrier to surpass; it is a motivation to keep on living.
