ABSTRACT: The Colombian health system does not posses the acquiring capacity of those such as Americans or Europeans. Therefore, a professional that participates in the development of technologies for diagnose, treatment and assistance in the health area nationally, must be aware of the real needs of the medium and design technologies with the characteristics that the sector costumers requires. The adaptation and appropriation of technology is a method that allows the modification and use of the supplies that foreign markets have to offer and helps to decrease the production and transportation cost and allows the use of national materials and equipments. The lift for manipulation and transportation is a good example of this adaptation and appropriation, which is a tool for the support of assistance personnel (nurses, auxiliary, physical therapist and physicians) that aids in the lifting and translation process, decreasing in time, the number of osteomuscular lesions made by the excessive effort needed in the aid of the patient. Its action system is fully mechanical, applied by a hydraulic jack that allows the lifting (maximum range 2,2m and minimum range 1,0m, from the floor to the hook vertex) in a safe, comfortable and smooth manner, with a maximum capacity of 150 kilograms, made of national materials and with a low cost for the costumers of the health sector.
