    Colombia economic openness in the nineties, encouraged the development of companies in order to meet the challenge of ingression of foreign companies in domestic markets. Companies have engaged in distinctive expansion plans, however for the pymes the development has not been maintained over time from lack of innovation and lack of resources needed to expand and include major market segments. Since the pymes in Colombia are the livelihood of many people and also a generating source of occupation in a country where the unemployment rate is high, this work anticipates to strengthen this type of business. Inquiring these businesses, which are the main variables that will lead them to implement the franchise system in order to succeed with its competitors and change the traditional way of growing and replacing solid franchise models.
