Publicación Acceso abierto ¿Cómo implementar un modelo de economía circular en el Valle de Aburrá?(Universidad EIA, 2019) Espinosa Soto, Estefanía; López Díaz, Natalia Andrea; Escobar Sierra, ManuelaIn the development of the work, there is a need to rethink solid waste management, treating "waste" as a system based on a circular economy model, since Colombia is one of the Latin American countries that generates more waste, and one of the countries that recycles less, according to the Ministry of Environment (Ambiente, 2017). This model proposes that waste be integrated into a perfect economic cycle, allowing the value of products and materials to be maintained for as long as possible, where waste is reduced to a minimum, and resources are conserved within the economy even when a product has reached the end of its useful life. The methodology allows variables such as voluntary participation in recycling and the effect of an incentive and a charge at source to be incorporated. Finally, the model provides a platform for the examination of various structural and policy alternatives for solid waste management.
