ABSTRACT: Medical technology constitutes without doubt one of the key elements of the healthcare sector since it is considered a differentiation factor among the different competitors, and the base of the economic growth and production of the healthcare industry. Of there the importance of carry out a suitable process of management of technologies that there allows evaluating the technology life cycle, to manage them as effective form. As a fundamental part of the process of planning, finds in the last stage the technology replacement, which inside a process without value judgment would happen after reaching the useful life of the equipment. The planning of this stage undoubtedly decreases the over costs of the sector because an inadequate technology replacement would produce an uncontrolled acquisition of technology. Nevertheless, the end of the useful life of the equipment must not be the only factor for replacing a technology.
As previously raised, this project thought about how to compile all those variables associated with the medical technology replacement, that allowed to carry out a replacement process with value judgment, this across the design of a methodological web resource tool, which expresses a recommendation of the urgency with which it is necessary to revalue or to replace the technology. It is important to highlight that for effects of an integral equipment evaluation, two factors were annexed, 1) ethical factor and 2) environmental factor, these two constitute an element differentiator inside the project.
For the design of the web tool, version 1.0 was taken as a base, an analysis of its structure was carried out and it identified breaches in its development that for the design of this new version 2.0, all were corrected. In addition, the variables previously found were included, these variables were put into evaluation by a group of experts who did part of the project. Also, the weight of each of the three categories that integrate the variables was put in the discussion, this with the target to realize a suitable calculation of the final Score that represent the recommendations given by the tool to the user.
Finally, it obtained a tool of remote access that contemplates quality information for the decision making as for the medical equipment replacement, with a friendly interface with the user.
