    The work focuses on a particular problem in the context of water resources management, particularly in the planning of-run off river hydroelectric projects of different types (Small Hydroelectric Central –PCH- and “bottom of dam”), and that the methodology is focuses particularly on big hydroelectric projects with reservoirs of regulation. Mainly talking about their weaknesses in terms of the applicability of the physical criteria, and does not take into account the scarcity of hydrological information and the diversity of the Colombian basins, among others.

    The natural waterways near the cities have been affected over 50 years by using pipes that harm waterways dynamic. European cities are changing these protection methods by more natural methods today. This grade work aims to determine which restoration methods are the most appropriate for future intervention in banking Aburrá River using methods less harmful to the environment, in the area between the Girardota Bridge and the Hatillo Bridge.

    In recent years, river canals has been one of the tools used by men to solve needs that will improve their quality of life and in turn contribute to their economy, by gaining flood zones, mainly for construction activities and agriculture. In most cases, these interventions do not consider changes in the bed forms and the alignment of the channel that can generate environmental, ecological and dispersion mechanisms variations. From the issues raised above, an analysis for some channels on the Aburrá Valley, with cascade and step pool morphologies, the analysis intends to estimate the variation in dispersive properties when they are operated with rigid structures.
