Publicación Acceso abierto Energía de enlace de excitones en pozos cuánticos de Gaas/Ga1-xa1xas(2014-05-08) Aristizábal, P. (Parménides); Restrepo-Arango, R. L. (Ricardo León); Ospina-Muñoz, W. A. (Walter Antonio); Duque-Echeverri, C. A. (Carlos Alberto)The use of low dimensional structures is a key technological element in the creation of new quantum functional devices in the development of the next generation of the electronic, photonic, and spintronic integrated circuits and many other nanoscaled devices that are necessary for the information society of 21st century. One of the most important optical properties is the photoluminescence produced by agents as impurities and excitons in GaAs quantum wells, wires, and dots with nanometric dimensions under the influence of electric and magnetic fields and external pressures. The binding energy for the first three excitonic states in GaAs/Ga1-xA1xAs quantum wells describing the system through quantum theory in the effective mass approximation and using the variational method is presented.Publicación Acceso abierto Una mirada al estudio y las aplicaciones tecnológicas y biomédicas de la magnetita(2013-11-18) Mazo-Zuluaga, J. (Johan)In the last decades, research oriented towards the development of knowledge regarding magnetic properties of materials remains as a relevant field of study in science, technology and engineering due to its implications on nanostructured materials. The present review has the aim to illustrate the importance of iron ferrite (Fe3O4), also called magnetite, in the context of engineering and nanotechnology. Aspects related to the applications of nanostructured materials in modern technology are discussed. Specifically, an extensive literature review about previous scientific work on the biological, technical, and computational aspects associated to magnetite is presented in detail. By portraying a general overview of the potential uses of this material, it is intended to state its wide possibilities and implications in the advance of magnetism and nanotechnology areas.
