    In order to make the manufacturing process of Enka de Colombia S.A more competitive, a coal-fired steam-electric plant was built. The plant uses limestone instead of regulate must be capture the sulfur emissions according to environmental regulations and is capable of generating 14 MW. An automated warehouse capable of sorting and storing 3500 tons of coal allows for 20 days of continuous supply to the plant.

    This paper shows the design of a Carrier controller selection methodology for automation projects, based on different technical and functional grade criteria. From elementary concepts of refrigeration comes the instrumentation and basic control of the different mechanical equipment that make up an air conditioning system, with which it is possible to define the main variables that interfere in the process, which are monitored or configured.
