Publicación Sólo datos Caracterización de las propiedades mecánicas del Acueducto de Silvio(Universidad EIA, 2019) Muñoz Gil, Susana; Montoya Góez, YesidHydrocephalus is a pathology that mainly affects infants, its treatments are not completely effective, due to limitations such as surgical complications, so in the search for new treatments or in the study of hydrocephalus the urgent to know the mechanical properties of the adjacent tissue of the Sylvius Aqueduct (AS) has emerged, which can affect the solutions in the type of hydrocephalus Non-communicating. Simulations have been applied lately in the medical field, however, since it is relatively a recent technic it requires exactitude and the study of systems mechanical and dynamic characteristics to advance into in vivo studies. Therefore, the objective of this work was to determine the mechanical properties of the tissue adjacent to the AS like the Young and Poisson modulus in animal tissue as a first approximation to understand the mechanical behavior in the endothelial wall of this system. In order to achieve this objective, a methodological route was proposed that includes the standardization of the operational parameters for the development of a protocol that allows the extraction of AS tissue from optimal pig brains, to be submitted of the compression tests in an INSTRON 3345, followed by a statistical cluster analysis that allows the establishment of the ranges of these properties that are not reported so far. The results found allowed to find a range for the values of the Young's modulus which are between 162.7 and 372.7 ± 301 KPa and the Poisson modulus between 0.45 and 0.47 ± 0.007. These results can be taken as a reference point of the values that can contribute to future simulations of the dynamic characteristics and medical devices in some structures like the AS. In addition, an operational protocol has been provided for the determination of these mechanical properties in soft tissue of animal origin, as an approach to in vitro studies.
