A. M. (Adriana María); Barros-Martínez, J. F. (Juan Fernando)The blue-billed curassow, Crax alberti, is a critically endangered endemic bird from the northern part of Colombia, mainly subjected to habitat loss and subsistence hunting. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) were used to compare the conservation status of forested areas, habitat of the blue-billed curassow, in 15 municipalities of the northeastern region of Antioquia for two different time periods (1986 and 2002). The developed application using digital cartography, allowed the classification of eight zones defined for the study area in order to analyze conservation priorities. Recommendations are made as well for future applications of GIS as a management tool for threatened species in Colombia.Publicación Acceso abierto Enseñanza de las ciencias desde una mirada de la didáctica de la Escuela Francesa(2014-05-12) Barros-Martínez, J. F. (Juan Fernando)In science teaching variety of knowledge takes part: that of sciences, that of the scientist, the academic, that of the professor, the daily one, that of the student. In this paper a journey for some models of constructivist’s focus is carried out, until arriving to the didactics of the French school, in an attempt to show the elements of the didactic situations of important development in mathematics teaching. The intention is to show that this didactics could be welcomed in the teaching of sciences, since its proposal offers to the process of teaching-learning and in particular to the ternary relationship professor, student and object of the knowledge elements for a didactic development that can guarantee the appropriation of the knowledge on the part of the student.Publicación Acceso abierto Metodología para evaluación de la condición de corrientes urbanas(2014-05-08) Barros-Martínez, J. F. (Juan Fernando); Vallejo-Giraldo, L. E. (Luz Eliana)A methodology for the evaluation of the condition of urban streams is proposed. The methodology integrates field data, historical information and technical analysis; it could be applied to the hydraulic component of the physical subsystem to comply with the ordering plans for watersheds. Pointers to measure the condition of the streams and the watershed are defined, the connection between portions of the streams with different hydraulic capacity conditions is analyzed and a multicriteria analysis is developed. This analysis compiles all the information gathered and identifies the most critical points of the hydraulic network based on three basic criteria: field evaluation, flooding records, and hydraulic capacity.Publicación Restringido Propuesta de calibración de un modelo para el tránsito de crecientes en un tramo del río Medellín(2014-05-08) Álvarez, L. M. (Lina María); Barros-Martínez, J. F. (Juan Fernando)This paper presents the methodology used to calibrate an NWS-FLDWAV model for flood routing through a stretch of the Medellín river. To build the model, the topographic information of the selected river section was compiled as soon as the stage hydrographs registered in the gauge stations. The importance of considering the discharge contributions along the stretch, which arise from the direct run-off caused essentially by the precipitation, was identified through the analysis of the behavior of the chosen floods. A way to calibrate the model was discovered that included the Manning coefficient of frictional resistance and the contribution discharge. This discharge was obtained from the analysis of the difference between base discharges for the two measurement stations that limit the river segment and were simulated with a spatial and temporal distribution.
