The principal job of the organization is to help the people with intellectual disability by giving them the opportunity of competing in different sports around the world, making these sports their way of living and the way of interacting with the society. Special Olympics® begins working in Colombia in January 2007 with the main goal of affiliating more than 2500 athletes to their programs in 9 Olympic sports
