This study shows the results of the design and construction of a stent prototype for stroke, which includes Computer Aided Design (CAD) and mechanical behavior simulation through finite element analysis (FEA), equally, it was conducted a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, where was assessed the blood flow through the vessel and the stent, and the pressures exerted in the artery-device fitting. Finally, it was built a stent in AISI 316L which performed well in mechanical, corrosion and insertion tests. The results indicate that the prototype has a good navigability in the catheter and attaches to the artificial endothelial wall; furthermore, it is a relatively inexpensive alternative in comparison with commercial stents made in titanium alloys and others.
