ABSTRACT: The Theory of Constraints has been implemented in thousands of companies with a lot of success regardless of being a manufacturing company or a service company. It is a theory that withholds a lot of simple solutions that attack directly the company’s problems in any area. Nowadays companies that make any kind of product either by order or for stock have similar problems such as long lead times, high costs with low productivity, low levels of profitability and many more to which The Theory of Constraints have the cure. For Impresos Ltda which is a company dedicated to the printing of many different products on paper, this can be a great opportunity to show that The Theory of Constraints does apply for an industry where the main constraint is the market and where the customers are shortening the delivery times more and more every day making the lead time a negative measurement. This project presents the different applications of the tools proposed by The Theory of Constraints to Impresos Ltda. To do this, we used the primary foundations of TOC which are Identify, Exploit, and Subordinate with the purpose of improving the lead times of the company mainly with the orders that the customers don’t give us any time to schedule. With the proper adjustments, we implemented some of the basic concepts of DBR (Drum, Buffer, Rope) where we choke the supply of raw material and introduce a priority system; also a system of measurements that will allow us to measure our productivity and the efficiency of this project with the main purpose of getting closer to our customers allowing them to become faithful to our business and moving them to place more orders. Finally, the results of the new implementations were evaluated to compare the potential improvements that could be obtained with the project versus the current performance of the company. This not only confirms the effectiveness of The Theory of Constraints as a philosophy of improvement but demonstrates that it can be applied to any business in the world regardless of the paradigms that already exist.
